Visit with Nana and Grandpa

Thank you, Nana and Grandpa, for a wonderful time with you and for all you did to make us completely at ease. You turned the keys of the house over to Bud, allowing him to range free and play hard, and went above and beyond with foodstuffs and baby accouterments. Thank you!

Ruby Tuesday

This morning in his new sweater and kicks. He's in the process of saying "uh oh!" after intentionally knocking something over.

With dad!

Mashy taters with dinner.

I only allow him to play with toys that color coordinated to the day's outfit.

Happy Fourteen Month Birthday!!

Happy Fourteen Month, lovey!

As fast as the past year has gone, it's also difficult to believe it's been fourteen months since you've been born. You continue to amaze and excite us with every new and impressive development, and there have been so many! Most recently, you've learned to say "shoe" and "uh oh" when you drop something from your high chair. Of course, you drop it on purpose while giggling, so it shouldn't be a suprise to you. But your intent is right on. Sometimes you even slap your head in disbelief, though I think that's from the plush noisemaking hammer with which you and your daddy keep smacking eachother's heads. You learned the sign for the word "more," and you earnestly saying "mo!" when you make the sign. You say it regularly in the high chair, even when you reject the "more" offered to you. But I'm excited you make the connection from that sign to food and that you will do so of your own volition when wanting breakfast.
Last night, your daddy and I crept into your room to admire you while you slept. We were so quiet but you were restless and we managed to wake you up while we stood there. We stood stock still when you opened your eyes, hoping you wouldn't see us in your half-asleep state. But then you pointed up at your daddy and said, "Da Da!" and we knew our cover was blown. We laughed and commented on how smart you are and how charming and astute you are, even or especially when you're half asleep.
