New Elephant Sweater

The elephant button detailing is too perfect and the hand knitting amazing, though I hope this doesn't set him on the path to being a Republican. Thank you, Nana!

Yesterday we spent a little time outside:

Happy Very First Birthday!! Part One

It was a wonderful day.

We had pancakes for breakfast.

Ole!

When he woke up from his nap, I introduced him to a balloon.

In his new birthday onesie.

His cake.

Happy, Happy, Birthday, Baby! Part Two

Birthday extravaganza!

Birthday boy with balloons. He enjoyed these a great deal - sucking on them, rolling on top of them and bouncing them around the room.

Birthday Prince in his new crown.

Birthday boy with Dad, or the guy who blew up all the balloons.

The paper hats ended up scaring him or angering him, so we all had to take them off. But not before I got this picture.

They Say It's Your Birthday, Part Three

What is this?

I'm not so sure.

Well, if I must.

Don't mind if I do!

Snidley Whiplash. This must be what he'll look like with a moustache and beard.

How Happy Was Your Birthday, Part Four

No holds barred cake action.

Clean!

Speaking with Nana on his state of affairs.

Reading with dad before bed.

Just before his bottle.

Buddy Study

Yesterday evening. How cuddly is this sweater?

Sleepy Buddy. After this picture he had dinner, then a bath where he caught a second wind...

Jailbreak!

Managing his train this morning. Don't you just want to eat those impossibly smooshy cheeks with a spoon?

This evening. If you looks closely, you'll see him holding the card his great grandma sent him for his first birthday. Note the tooth marks - this means it has his seal of approval and his thanks!

Today's Outfit

Now with more teefies.

Chuck Taylors!

These pictures are from Sunday. I figured the "I heart football" onesie and Converse were appropriate for watching football. One benefit to having a baby is that you can dress them in ways that amuse you.

Post Nap Goodness

When he first wakes up, he's his most snuggliest. He's all warm and pink cheeked from sleep, and bouncy and giggly because you've come to see him.

Thanksgiving: We Laughed, We Cried, Part I

Thanksgiving morning in his Halloween finery. He's behind the times.

First Thanksgiving outfit. Pre outrageous diaper.

Off we go.

Establishing dominance with the 18 year old cat. And yet somehow, Gracie still doesn't get it.

Step off. I cannot be contained, woman.

Thanksgiving: We Laughed, We Cried, Part II

State Puff Marshmellow Buddy in his new winter jacket.

Close up. Displeased close up.

We spent most of the day making dinner, and had planned it early enough (5pm) that he should have been in a fine mood:

So we choked down dinner to the dulcet tones of his objection at the injustice of the high chair and life in general. The horror of eating stuffing and turkey is NOT TO BE BORNE.

On the plus side, he was asleep by 6:30pm so we watched a movie. Of course, we shudder in horror at the prospect of what Friday morning holds.

As I rocked him to sleep, I told him about last Thanksgiving where I was hugely pregnant and wondering what the next year's Thanksgiving would hold. And I told him how thankful I was to have him here, and tickled to have my holiday dinner cut short by his ability to bolster support for his anarchist agenda wherever he goes.
